Anyone have any reactions to radiation treatment for breast cancer?
Did anyone else ever get yellow nails while undergoing chemo and radiotherapy?
I’ve noticed that my nails have been a yellowy hue for the past few weeks, but dismissed it because I thought it was from the funky nail polish remover and different brand of polish that I was using. I love painting, and usually have to redo my nails every day or so because of the splatters I get from my art. I normally use OPI or MAC, but have the last few bottles have been Millani nail lacquer, which has a different sheen and consistency, so maybe that’s the real cause. Last week I only used OPI and I used a different brand of nail polish remover four days ago and didn’t paint my nails. They are still yellowy. Not like mildly yellow, but grotesque and noticeable. I’ve seen elderly people with nails that look like this, but nobody my age (17). Two people asked me about them today. I haven’t repainted because I wanted to see if they’d go back to normal. I see my onco on Friday and am going to mention it to her then, even though I feel a bit silly and like a hypochondriac because my nails are probably just damaged from having painted them so often. I’m just curious to know now if anybody else ever experienced this or any other discoloration of their nails. My toe nails are also discolored, but I use the same polish and remover on them. Do you think the nail lacquer damaged them and I just need to wait it out, or is this some funky side effect? I’ve been undergoing treatment since Sept. 09 and the nail issue only started recently.
Nobody ever said I couldn’t paint them…..
Does a fungus just make them yellow or would you see something funky under the nail? Nothing is under the nails as far as I can see.
My dad has prostate cancer I need to know if anyone has gone through this.?
They say it is advanced prostate cancer and he just found out about a month or two ago. Currently he is going through hormonal therapy to lower his testosterone level. Feb. he goes to get his prostate completely removed. Has anyone gone through this, or knows someone who has and might know how long he has. Im 18 and my dad is my hero.
Has anyone heard of an accelerated radiation treatment specifically for breast cancer?
You have to meet certain criteria such as early stage, size of tumor, etc. 7 if so it is 5 times of radiation in 1 week rather than 5 spread out over 5 weeks. Do you know if this has more severe side affects than the 5 weeks?
Success rate?
Anyone had any experience with High Grade Small Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma?
Diagnosis is High Grade Small Cell Neuroendocrine Carcinoma presenting between colon and pelvis (also in lymphnodes in same area). Doctor’s are not sure but believe it originated from cervix or uterus. It is being treated as if it were Small Cell Lung Cancer eventhough it is NOT in the lungs.
Having a hard time finding anything online because it is apparently pretty darn rare. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Can anyone Please help a Lukemia patient financially? ?
This patient was diagnosed to have Acute Myeloid Leukemia in Nov 2005.
He was treated with chemotherapy (totally one induction cycle with daunorubicin + cytarabine following which he went into remission followed by 4 cycles of high dose cytarabine consolidation chemotherapy).
He was in and out of the hospital for 7 months at that time.
Ideally a matched related transplant would have the highest chances of cure; however his only brother was not a match, so he proceeded with the only option for cure available to him at that time, namely chemotherapy.
Things were going on fine…..a year passed…….he had a baby boy……then another year passed…..and he breathed……thought it was over…till a few days ago.
This patient was diagnosed to have a relapse of the Leukemia on a routine blood test….and so it begins….
He just went through induction chemotherapy at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore.
His Bone Marrow Biopsy is due 2 weeks from now to confirm remission.
His hemato-oncologist is Dr. Ashish Dixit, a truly wonderful, caring physician.
He recommends that his patient undergo a Matched Unrelated Donor Bone Marrow Transplant to ensure sustained remission as chemotherapy alone is unlikely to cure the disease at this point.
Unfortunately, unrelated transplants are not being done in India as we do not have a well established donor registry plus we do not have the facility for high resolution HLA typing which ensures that the donor selected matches closest to this patient otherwise potentially life threatening complications may occur.
His doctor has advised that we consider the US or Singapore for the transplant.
The transplant costs are very high: 250,000-500,000 US dollars is the lowest estimate in the US. Singapore would be approximately half the cost.
We are considering Singapore as an option as long as we are able to garner the funds required. His doctor says that the favourable aspects of this patient’s case are that he’s young and that the relapse has happened very late (3 years later).
There is a good chance that he will be cured of this terrible disease with the transplant.
Thanks to the support of family and friends so far, we’ve been able to reach halfway with the target of Rs. 100 lakhs. We still have a long way to go……
If you can support us in any way, please do so.
Also, if you know anyone who’d be interested in supporting us through this crazy time……please let them know.
If anyone is interested in helping then please answer this. i will supply you with the details of the hospital where he has to undergo this procedure. You can send the money over there directly to the hospital with the patients name. Please pray for his speedy recovery.

Is there anyone taking CellCept? If so, how long did you take it and what symptoms did you have?
SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY. THANKS!
Hi, I was diagnosed with lupus almost 2 years ago after over 11 years of dealing with various symptoms and flares and kidney disease. Right now I am only taking 1/2 a 250 mg chloroquine tablet once a day but I still have pain and fatigue and my sed rate is going up slowly, which it does during seasonal changes. My doctor wants me to start chemo or steroids, which scares the crap out of me. I saw online that there is something called CellCept that may work to reduce lupus symptoms that may have more tolerable symptoms than chemo, but I don’t want to jump into anything. Can someone who has lupus who has or is using CellCept tell me if it works, how long it works, if you experienced any really bad side effects and if so did you recover? And did the lupus come back? Thank you for your help.

Does anyone know of what cancer organization I can donate a toy to?
I want to donate a toy to a child that has illness and was wondering who to donate to, I looked at the St. Jude website and it appears that they only take monetary donations for the research hospital. Just recently lost someone to cancer and want to make a difference to a child in need.
