My mother had a lumpectomy for early stage 1 (almost stage 0) breast cancer. She finishes her radiation treatments this week but she was told today that she would need to do 7 additional treatments (not the same as radiation treatments) for scarring or something like that. They didn’t really explain it to her well and she was running late for another appt. and didn’t have a chance to ask questions. They said they would mark it later this week and then she would have 7 treatments. Does anyone know what kind of treatment or therapy there would be for scar tissue after breast cancer radiation? Has anyone experienced this before? Thanks. It’s almost stage 0 because all of the invasive cancer was removed during the biopsy (micro-invasive carcinoma of the breast, low grade) and everything taken out during her lumpectomy was actually pre-cancer cells (dcis).
