Has your spouse been living with cancer? Or recently diagnosed with cancer? Has he/she relapsed? If so, do you feel totally discouraged, confused, and terrified at what’s coming up next? It is wise to be informed of the stages a cancer survivor might go through, not only from the point of view of a diagnosis but also for better recovery. The first step is for the cancer survivor to overcome denial regarding the big “C” diagnosis; the mere diagnosis in itself is scary and it brings up a lot of issues in people… Denial is an obstacle to take necessary action, so the sooner you deal with it, the better. In many cases, early intervention is the key to a successful prognosis later on. The second step is accepting help. Most likely, the survivor is still in a state of shock, when attention skills and other response skills are not the sharpest. This kind of shock is paralyzing to a lot of people, draining them of energy and all other resources. You need the most support at this time, not only from the medical community but also from your friends and family; some people do exceptionally well being supported by a trained coach during these times; a coach would introduce the survivor to new coping skills, support him/her through the changing relationships and the changing world around him/her. The third step is for the survivor is to show a willingness to make the necessary changes to become healthier. This often involves giving up some of the old habits he is accustomed with, building a new support system of healthier babitsfriends, learning new coping skills, and changing many of his relationships. The fourth step is a commitment to get healthier which entails managing stress, sticking to treatment procedures, and following a healthier lifestyle. The fifth step is advanced recovery in which the survivor has learned the triggers for low energy and has learned how to listen to his/her body for signs of imbalance and has altered his/her lifestyle to minimize these triggers. In addition, he/she has become involved in helping others in the same situation and has become an inspiration and a role model for many in the community. Now, the survivor has a good balance in his/her life in all levels between work, home, and everything else. It is always of great help to keep in mind the cancer experience and to move ahead preventatively: continuously living a healthy balanced lifestyle. This will prevent risk of all diseases, not only decrease the risk of cancer recurrence. As a cancer survivor, remember: you are a winner already! Keep going and enjoy life! Your cancer recovery starts with getting more information about your disease and your recovery.

The medical world fills our heads with all the ways to treat cancer, the devastating effects cancer has on a person, and who is more susceptible to it. If your grandmother and mother have it, you will likely have it too. They sure make life sound so promising, don’t they? They never seem to have access to interesting facts like what caused the cancer. Maybe they are too busy expecting future cases and trying to treat the ones they have. If we knew the causes of it, could we avoid them or get to the root of this awful disease? Could there be such a thing as a cancer remover? Is there an alternative to conventional methods like surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation? All of these treat your body more like a pinata than a living being. Patients often wonder if dying would be easier than living. Is there a gentle, non toxic cancer remover? One that treats your body as a refuge instead of a dump. Sadly, a doctor is one of the least likely people to tell you about natural, proven healing methods even though many people have been completely healed of cancer using these methods. You have a choice if you are a cancer victim or if you have a friend or family member who is. Do you want to undergo surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation so that you can be in remission? Or do you want to beat cancer once and for all? Yes, it’s true, you can beat cancer with a cancer remover. This requires no nasty treatments that leave you feeling like the walking dead. Even if the medical professionals told you that you are terminal, you do not have to accept that diagnosis. There is hope! There is a book that makes beating cancer simple. All you have to is buy the book and you are in control of where you go from there. It’s your body. Do you want to accept a death sentence or you do you want to proclaim life? No one should have to die this way and you don’t have to. It’s your choice, it’s your body, and you can reverse this disease.

Staging To plan the best treatment, the doctor needs to know the stage (extent) of the disease. The stage is based on the size of the tumor, whether the cancer has spread and, if so, to what parts of the body. Staging may involve imaging tests such as an ultrasound or a CT scan. The doctor also may use an MRI. For this test, a powerful magnet linked to a computer makes detailed pictures of organs and blood vessels. Doctors describe kidney cancer by the following stages: Stage I is an early stage of kidney cancer. The tumor measures up to 2 3/4 inches (7 centimeters). It is no bigger than a tennis ball. The cancer cells are found only in the kidney. Stage II is also an early stage of kidney cancer, but the tumor measures more than 2 3/4 inches. The cancer cells are found only in the kidney. Stage III is one of the following: The tumor does not extend beyond the kidney, but cancer cells have spread through the lymphatic system to one nearby lymph node; or The tumor has invaded the adrenal gland or the layers of fat and fibrous tissue that surround the kidney, but cancer cells have not spread beyond the fibrous tissue. Cancer cells may be found in one nearby lymph node; or The cancer cells have spread from the kidney to a nearby large blood vessel. Cancer cells may be found in one nearby lymph node. Stage IV is one of the following: The tumor extends beyond the fibrous tissue that surrounds the kidney; or Cancer cells are found in more than one nearby lymph node; or The cancer has spread to other places in the body such as the lungs. Recurrent cancer is cancer that has come back (recurred) after treatment. It may come back in the kidney or in another part of the body. Treatment Many people with kidney cancer want to take an active part in making decisions about their medical care. They want to learn all they can about their disease and their treatment choices. However, shock and stress after the diagnosis can make it hard to think of everything they want to ask the doctor. It often helps to make a list of questions before an appointment. To help remember what the doctor says, people may take notes or ask whether they may use a tape recorder. Some also want to have a family member or friend with them when they talk to the doctor-to take part in the discussion, to take notes, or just to listen. The doctor may refer the patient to a specialist, or the patient may ask for a referral. Specialists who can give the best treatment removal for kidney cancer include doctors who specialize in diseases of the urinary system (urologists) and doctors who specialize in cancer (medical oncologists and radiation oncologists). Thanks again for taking time and reading, and remember there is always hope. All the best.

Question: I’m now on my fifth cycle of chemotherapy for breast cancer, with one more cycle to go. The side effects, mainly digestive problems, get worse each time. is there any thing I can do to help myself through this and to put myself back on the path to good health when the treatment ends? Answer: The goal of chemotherapy is to destroy the spread of the cancer cells in the breast tissue or lymph nodes. Although chemotherapeutic agents have a devastating effect on the cancer cells, the body pays a price: the liver, kidneys and other organs with healthy cells are severely affected too, because the chemo agents aren’t able to target only the cancer cells. Up to six cycles of chemo seems to offer optimum benefit, as any more therapy would increase the toxicity in the body to an unacceptable degree. When chemotherapy is over, the body has to rebuild everything quickly – like reconstructing a house after a hurricane. The sooner the body’s wellbeing is reinstated, the better chance it has of going into a remission or cure. In my experience, there is a lot you can do to build up your physical and mental strength as soon as your cancer is diagnosed, and you should keep up this programme for the long term. Stress management is paramount you need to control emotions such as anger, frustration, fear and embarrassment. My own belief is that saying things such as, ‘I’ll fight it tooth and nail, care counterproductive: you can maintain your fighting spirit most effectively by staying calm. It is best to accept the condition, approach it spiritually and rectify the damage to your body and mind. If you create serenity within yourself and slow down your mind and body, this may check the spread of cancer cells. Worries, stress, financial difficulties, and so on, will always be there, but you have to learn to become ‘immune’ to them: doing this will help you most. Starting to get the ‘feel good’ factor back is a sign of your body’s innate healing power responding to the changes you’ve made. This force – which we take for granted to mend cuts, bruises and broken bones – can help you overcome your maladies. Here are my suggestions Diet * Try to eat organic foods whenever possible. * Regularly drink freshly juiced carrots, apples, ginger, celery and fresh mint with wheatgerm. * During chemotherapy, eat soft foods, such as mushy rice, mashed potatoes, soft-boiled eggs, minced chicken, grilled or poached fish, overcooked or pureed vegetables, soups, juices, porridge, lentils and fresh (non-citrus) fruits. * Always avoid foods that agitate the body, such as coffee, excess salt strong spices, sugar, yeast products, red meat fatty or fried foods, canned products, plus soft drinks, alcohol and cigarettes. Supplements From the start of chemotherapy, take the following to support the body’s functions: * Dr Ali’s Multivitamin and Mineral or BioCare One A Day : one daily for three months. * Bio Liv : one twice daily for three months. * Stomach Formula : two twice daily for two months. Relaxation * Try meditation, chanting prayer, creative visualisation, singing, playing music, painting, dancing, recreational sports or games. I also recommend therapeutic iyengar yoga, which combines exercise and meditation. It incorporates pranayama – the art of breathing, which calms and stills the mind while supplying blood and oxygen to the body’s cells. (Vigorous yogas lack the peace the body needs to slow down the madness of cell division.) * Read my book Theropeutic Yoga, co-written with Jiwan Brar ; particularly practice the corpse pose with retention breathing (breathe in for three seconds, hold for three to six seconds and breathe out for six seconds). I talk you through this on my Lifestyle DVD, £19.95, and Relaxation CD, (both Integrated health Group). Massage Ask someone to massage your neck, shoulders, back, calves and the soles of your feet every week, but to avoid the breasts and lymph nodes. Reflexology is excellent, too. Nutritional therapy My colleague Dr Wendy Denning( at the Integrated Medical Centre) gives controlled intravenous infusions of vitamins and minerals to cope with the demands of hemotherapy and keep the life force active. When the liver is sluggish and the appetite is poor – or there is a digestive problem, as in your case – you lack nutrients at the time you need them most.

Salvage Chemotherapy is drug treatment for the patients who are not responding or not tolerating other available therapies for particular condition. Often prognosis of such patients is poor. With salvage chemotherapy, one can have hope of curing the cancer or at least extended and better quality life. Usually, salvage chemotherapy is applied after recurrence of cancer. Chemotherapy treatment is evolved over the many decades. There are different types of chemotherapy treatments such as adjuvant chemotherapy, neoadjuvant chemotherapy, induction chemotherapy and other are available to treat various cancers. With the development of active and less toxic drugs and improved methods to control the cancer, chemotherapy treatments are highly effective. Even though chemotherapy treatments are effective in producing some good clinical results, there are more chances of recurrence of cancer or incomplete responses. At this stage, salvage chemotherapy is introduced to control or manage various cancers. Like other chemotherapy treatments, salvage chemotherapy should have different goals for different cancerous situation. Various possible objectives need to be considered for each patient with specific cancer while applying salvage chemotherapy. In salvage chemotherapy, combination of Cisplatin and Cytarabine drug is administered. This combination drug is applied in high doses. Drugs are administered directy I the veins either through injection or through drip. Dose of Dexamethasone is also given along with this therapy. Though salvage chemotherapy treatment is effective, it makes patient very sick. Before starting salvage chemotherapy treatment, one should understand realistic objectives of salvage chemotherapy. This will lead to clear discussion among patient, his family and concerned physician. Risks associated with salvage chemotherapy including treatment related mortality, toxicities of drug used should be weighed against known benefits of the treatment. Though salvage chemotherapy seems to be a reasonable option for particular condition, treatment may not be appropriate for individual patient because of physical condition, goals of treatment, stage of cancer and patient?s preference. This factor must be considered before applying salvage chemotherapy. Salvage chemotherapy associates with some side effects. Most of the drugs used in the treatment are toxic that may lead to morbidity or mortality, including febrile neutropenia, hemorrhage and impaired quality life. Other side effects include nausea, vomiting and hair fall. These side effects may occur months or years after the administration of drugs. Though salvage chemotherapy has certain advantages, it is rarely performed by doctors. With salvage chemotherapy, life span of patient increases by controlling growth of cancerous cell.

Everyone fears the word cancer. However most types of cancers can be beaten, if you catch it up soon enough, and even if you don’t there are new treatments coming out by the minute everyday that will help you fight and successfully beat cancer. There are however some types of cancers that are more complex in nature than others, brain cancer is the one we’re speaking of and the one we will be focusing on. Two types of known brain cancer exist, namely: Primary brain cancer (these generally initiate in the brain), Primary brain cancer almost never moves to any other part of the body, so death is brought on by uncontrollable tumor growth within the brain cavity. Then you get metastatic brain cancer or otherwise known as secondary brain cancer (this type of cancer originates in other parts of the body and get transported or should we say it migrates to the brain thus causing the person to circum to secondary brain cancer. Causes of Brain Cancer Brain cancer can occur at any age. Studies have shown that two major age groups are affected. From ages 3 to 12 and 40 to 70 are the age groups when brain cancer is formed. Since researchers have been able to gather this data, it has led to the discovery of some risk factors. Workers in certain industries are at a higher risk for brain cancer than workers in other industries. These include, rubber manufacturing, drug manufacturing, and oil refining. Since brain cancer often occurs with members of the same family, heredity is believed to be another cause of brain cancer. There are many different kinds of cells in the brain, each with a different function. Sometimes the cells inside the brain begin to grow uncontrollably leading to a tumor. A tumor in the brain may or may not be malignant. If benign a tumor stays where it starts, although it can grow very large and put pressure on crucial areas. In the case of a malignant brain tumor however this has the ability to spread and brain cancer occurs. Brain cancer is dangerous and life-threatening as the cancerous cells can interrupt vital brain functions. When brain cancer occurs, the cells continue to grow at a rapid pace. Symptoms of brain cancer Some very common symptoms of brain cancer are headaches and nausea; but these can really be caused by something else. So, headache and nausea shouldn’t really be taken as brain cancer. Some other symptoms of brain cancer are related to incorrect working of some of the basic senses (that are mainly governed by brain) e.g. speech, vision and smell etc. Again, there is no point in getting worried all by yourself; you should, in any case, consult a qualified doctor and let them know clearly about the various symptoms that you have observed. The doctor can then diagnose whether it is brain cancer. Treatment of Brain Cancer The use of high-dose X-rays to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. Radiation therapy for childhood brain tumors usually comes from a machine and is called external radiation therapy. Steroids may be given to reduce any swelling in the brain. Drugs to control seizures may also be prescribed. The use of drugs to kill cancer cells. Chemotherapy drugs may be taken orally or injected into a vein or muscle. Chemotherapy is called a systemic treatment because the drug enters the bloodstream, travels through the body and can kill cancer cells throughout the body.

Brain cancer is a disease which starts with just one cell but this grows and makes more copies of itself and grows as a tumor which is known as swelling. We are here to help you to need support the most. This brain cancer is of two types that is primary and secondary brain cancer. Man is bounded with all the pollutions and he is getting addicted or captivated to many diseases. He is inventing or knowing new things in the same way they are leading him to the capture of new diseases. In the previous days the cancer was known as deadly disease and the people were trembling with the word itself. But now days as the science is getting advanced the healers are also in number to heal the disease without loss of life and suffer. For more information: dr jack The brain is one of the core parts of the body. It is an essential part of our body. It is here that all the parts of the body are controlled. This is also the tissue that is made up of individual cells and cannot view with our naked eyes and a microscope is used to see them. This brain cancer cells are the smallest units which compose the brain. This is the cancer which can appear from any part of the cell in the brain. These cells are the abnormal growth of cells in the brain. Brain cancer is of two that is primary brain cancer and the secondary brain cancer. The primary brain cancer is the cancer which originates in the brain and spreads to the parts of the brain. It is developed within the brain itself. The secondary brain cancer is the cancer which originates in other parts of the body such as lungs, pancreases, bone or others and spreads to the brain. The symptoms of this brain cancer are headache, nausea or vomiting, difficulty of speaking or thinking words, disturbed in vision, smell, hearing or taste, weakness in the parts of body, loss of balance, drowsiness, irritability, or personality changes, convulsions like loss of consciousness or muscle spasm, weakness, difficulty walking, seizures, and others. So it is an urge need if you or your dear one is suffering with these symptoms then they have to get primary treatment and not allow to spread them. The causes for this brain cancer are many. Some of them are having rare family diseases which makes risk for brain tumors, heavy exposure to the chemicals, disclosure to radiations are connected to this occur of brain cancers and others brain related diseases. The person is considered to be at higher risk if he is of young age and if it is at a higher dose in the disease. Ya when we hear that we or our dear one is suffering with this disease we emotionally feel very difficult to cope with. The life completely changes. The people around us react differently but we should not feel alone and loose hopes of getting heal with it. If we have a hope of healing it then it there is no matter of what stage the cancer is. So it is believed that hope is the only great healing tool for the cancer survivors. Now as the science is advanced the people are realizing that they have many types of health cares that they can receive and get cured with the deadly chronic diseases. The person when he is diagnosed with the brain cancer may not get the correct treatment for it. He searches for the suggestions and the runs to the various physicians prescribed by his dear ones. But the patient must be careful while choosing his physician at this stage. He must be careful and should choose the right physician for him so that he may not undergo the second attempt of treatment if the first treatment did not well respond to his disease. So he should be precise in taking the right decision for his treatment from the physician whom he has chosen. There are many kinds of treatment which are followed to cure the diseases. But we at our center heal your suffer with the natural dietary supplements that are made of the herbal products. These medications have been proved as the miraculous improvements in the healing of the diseases. But it is true that patient becomes panic when he listens that he has been attacked with this deadly disease. So, it is he who makes up his mind and have a firm mind that he will get out of it and get treated with it no crisis. In a medical research has shown that alternative medical care that makes feel right to them heal better than patients who take the allopathic medications. Now a days people believe that the serious or the chronic diseases can be cured with the therapies which improve the immune system and restore the body systems. They have recognized that the therapies really work and stand sharp contrast to the debilitating and often the unsuccessful in the results of chemotherapy and radiation. Many patients are now seeking and coming forth to have these alternative or the complementary treatments for these kinds of diseases that are often considered as incurable by convention doctors. Many have got their health back with these types of therapies. The effective alternative therapies are now available that offer patients a new hope for healing and restoring their health. Nutritional medicine, detoxification therapies, lifestyle changes and psychological healing are but a few of the choices available today. These powerful therapies aim to restore the natural wisdom of the body. This is the future of medicine which is becoming the choices for better health. The medical treatment that is provided at our center is focused on the whole person not only with what he is suffering. The modern treatments consider or stress mainly on curing the symptom or killing the cancerous tumor with powerful treatments. They do not consider about the recurrence of the disease as they feel that the cancer causing cells are destroyed and there is no chance of getting the diseases again. But when the man suffers with this cancer he also has many other diseases with it. So, the cure of these diseases is also needed. The natural therapies not only cure the disease but also make the person to come out of the other related diseases.

The type of surgery recommended in any given case of breast cancer has significance for postoperative therapy. Breast cancer surgery may be less extensive or radical where the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes or to other parts of the body; the use of chemotherapy and radiation therapy may then be more aggressive. Breast cancer surgery recovery time depends on the procedure involved. More commonly, the cancer is localized. The patient’s options may, in consequence include: surgery only, surgery with radiation, surgery with chemotherapy, surgery with a combination of these treatments; or radiation or chemotherapy without surgery. However, breast cancer surgery recovery time would differ depending upon the kind of surgery they had. If the lesion is malignant, the surgeon proceeds with the mastectomy. Depending upon the seriousness of the case and the procedure recommended by the surgeon and the pathologist, the operation may be a simple mastectomy, a radical mastectomy, a modified radical mastectomy, or any of a number of other forms of breast operation. In the United States, until recently, radical mastectomy was the usual procedure for breast cancer treatment. Today at least seven different types of mastectomy, some more widely accepted than other, may be performed namely: lumpectomy, simple mastectomy, modified-radical mastectomy, halsted-type radical mastectomy, radical mastectomy, super-radical mastectomy. All may be recommended in different cases depending upon the type of cancer, its invasive potential, or ability to spread, and other factors. Most patients have deep concern about many aspects of breast cancer surgery recovery time, including the cosmetic effects. For that reason, it is important to select the appropriate type of surgery. The rates of survival appear to depend as much on timely use of pre and postoperative radiotherapy and postoperative chemotherapy as on the type of operation. But the kind of operation may determine whether the patient will be able to function and recover normally in a relatively short period of time.

Chemotherapy is a cancer treatment where drugs are given to the patient to destroy and kill the cancer cells. It works by killing rapidly dividing cells like cancerous cells and other healthy cells such as hair follicles, bone marrow and the reproductive system. I have listed some valuable information for you to read in one easy-to-read webpage. This is a free service for our valued readers which can be located on this link: Chemotherapy Usually the chemotherapy drugs are given intravenously which means they are injected into a vein of the patient. However, there are some drugs that are administered through injection into the muscles while others are given orally. Doctors and researchers are still trying to evaluate and study whether a patient suffering from a particular type of cancer may be benefited to a greater extent if the chemotherapy drug is directly administered into the cancerous area. Chemotherapy is a cyclic treatment which means that there is a period when drugs are given and this is followed by a period of recovery. This process is continued until the patient completely recovers. Often even after the cancer is destroyed, chemotherapy drugs are given until the time the patient’s body can tolerate them. Chemotherapy can be conducted anywhere such as the outpatient department of the hospital, in a doctor’s office or even at the patient’s home. Usually there is no need to stay in the hospital to receive chemotherapy treatment. There are different side effects of chemotherapy and most of them depend on the type of drug used and the dosage given. When blood cells are affected because of chemotherapy, the white blood count reduces dramatically along with the platelet counts. A patient then is more prone to illnesses as the body’s defense mechanism is hindered. On the lighter side there are side effects like vomiting, nausea, hair loss, dry mouth, constipation and loss of appetite. Beware that some problems like damage to heart, lungs and kidneys can show later on after the treatment. However, not all cancer patients get all the side effects. Some patients suffer from few side effects while others from all of them. There are also patients who do not have any side effects from chemotherapy. While chemotherapy is an effective tool in shrinking tumors and slowing the spread of cancerous cells it is oftentimes used in conjunction with other medications and other forms of treatment for the best results. When chemotherapy is combined with either surgery or radiation there is an increased success rate in slowing or ceasing the spread of the cancer throughout the body. Sometimes chemotherapy is the only treatment a patient receives. More often, however, chemotherapy is used in addition to surgery, radiation therapy and biological therapy.

Cancer treatments lead to different side effects such as decrease in energy level, weakness of the muscles and decline in functional status. In recent studies, exercise and cancer recovery have been found to be highly correlated. There are evidences that exercise is beneficial to decrease fatigue caused by cancer treatment. Through the course of recovery, it is advisable to do low intensity aerobics, walking or Tai Chi. Doing regular exercise regimen can help prevent de-conditioning. It enhances strength, endurance and balance and may help ameliorate the treatment’s neuromuscular effects. Cancer treatment-related negative effects like nausea, body fatigue, anxiety and depression can be managed by regular exercise. In addition, regular physical activity also decreases emotional stress, blood pressure and pain. The duration of neutropenia and thrombocytopenia is also found to diminish. Because of this, exercise and cancer recovery should go hand and hand to increase the quality of life. Exercise may also improve oxygen uptake during the activity, sleeping pattern and cognition. For several years now, many people in the medical field have been deeply interested in promoting exercise as and intervention during cancer treatment and recovery. However, most of the studies about exercise and its role during recovery from cancer have been conducted among cancer patient women during their early stage. That’s why these studies can’t be generalized as early as now to be applicable to other cancer populations. Still, exercise and cancer recovery are being linked because of the well-known and proven benefits of exercise in general health condition. This article is all about cancer treatments.
